Witness the awesome explosion that occurs whenever the Pods collide! Ink splatters all who dare come near. Paper scatters to the four corners of the globe room. The tickatacka of the typewriter keys screams "Old School!" into the void. Behold, the absolute carnage of creation that gave Kimagure na Dowa no Hon to the world.

Style indeed. We wear our best clothes to tear up our minds and paste them on to paper for you. And then we wrap it all up in brown paper with red-and-white bakery string so that you can take some of the magic home with you....

Jennie Pod toils to get the sashes ready for PDX.

Pod Post table at PDX--best!event!ever!

PDX Zine crush and scramble! Look at all that greatness! Thanks especially to organizer (and photog) Lani and the PDX Zine Symposium Flickr set!

Pods collide with Maria Goodman of Secret Mystery Love Shoes! (get the zine through Microcosm! It is the awesome!)

Pods + Androo Robinson (of Secret Mystery Love Shoes and Cryptozoa) = too much personality for the room! (p.s.: he's wearing a ukulele on his back--swoon!)

The Pod Post postal workers don't even bat an eye anymore.
(Thanks to Herr Baron for being the PP photographer.)

And on to the SF Zine Fest! This lovely photo courtesy of the even lovelier Brian Kolm of Atomic Bear Press.

More intimate than PDX, the SF Zine Fest gave the Pods many reasons to feel squishy about their chosen city. (Photo courtesy of Scott Beale and Laughing Squid's Flickr photo set.)

Pods. Sassy. Say no more.
(Thanks again to Scott Beale.)

And now for the analog photo experience! PPP stands for Proud Pod Polaroid. We showcased our zines, merit badges, pinpacks, doc pouches, pencil cases, and book belts on our trademark grey fabric.

Pods always love seeing the Not #1 Artnoose at zine events. She does the nearly-unthinkable every two months by publishing the hand-set letterpress zine Ker-Bloom! Let's just say that you owe it to yourself. If you're in SF you can find Ker-Bloom! well-stocked at City Lights.

And what would any zine event be without Clutch? As you can see (or maybe she's told you, over and over until you can't stand it anymore), Carolee Pod is a no-holds-barred Clutch fanatic. Each time she gets to hang out with Clutch in the flesh, it is a dream realized anew.

And speaking of dream realized, Jennie Pod found her copy of the new Clutch ornamented thusly. Carolee Pod was, as might be expected, wicked jealous. But then she got over it, because she got to hold hands with Clutch.

Another highlight: finally getting up the guts to talk to John Porcellino of King-Cat Comics and Misun Oh. We were sorry to hear that they'll be leaving SF soon. The zine community will miss them!

I heard you're not supposed to ask what a Pod wears under her kilt.

By the end of the SF Zine Fest we were bursting our buttons--literally! We collected at least a dozen new buttons between us.

The Pods ended the day at the venerable Pop's Bar, just a few short blocks away from CellSpace.

On to October 14, 2006, and the annual BABA Book Arts Jam!

The Pods had a blast explaining themselves to all the delighted faces that approached the table. Most popular question: "What are you two?"

The delightful Jody Alexander showed that ingenuity and resourcefulness mean you can wear your Pod Post merit badges right away!

Jody affixed her stapling merit badge to her blouse with a gorgeous vintage Swingline "Cub" and then she fled the table, seeing the office-supply lust in the eyes of both Pods.

Around three p.m., things get a little wild when you break out the snacks.

Jody Alexander's assistant, Laura Laura, awed us with both her stenographic machine and her millinery.

Not to be outdone, she decided that a staple trumped the messier but more obvious solution of gluing on her merit badge.

And just before it was time to go home, the Pods toasted to Book Arts and Foothill College. Thanks for another great event!
